A meeting was held today between Ambassador Farukh Amil, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN in Geneva, and Mr. Rudolph Müller, Director of the Geneva Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Ambassador Amil appreciated OCHA’s relief efforts in the wake of 2005 earthquake and 2010 floods in Pakistan. He added that Pakistan was prone to natural disasters, and was generously hosting millions of Afghan nationals. Predictable funding for ongoing OCHA programmes in Pakistan was important.
Mr. Müller thanked Pakistan for maintaining excellent coordination with OCHA, hosting millions of refugees, and providing base for humanitarian and relief operations in Afghanistan for decades.
